FAQ

When should I order my cake?

Wedding cakes should be ordered at least 3 to 6 months in advance.  Custom fondant, or 3D/sculpted cakes should be ordered at least 6 to 8 weeks in advance.  Custom 2D buttercream cakes should be ordered at least 4 weeks in advance.  If availability exists, we always try to accommodate any requests up to one week prior to the event. However, we are only able to produce a certain number of custom cakes per week in order to ensure our wicked awesome quality and are not always able to fill last minute requests. Ordering in advance is the only way to secure your event date if availability on date requested exists.

What is your payment policy?

Payments can be made by cash or any credit card.
A $100.00 non-refundable deposit is required at the time of reservation to hold your event date. For any orders placed with a quoted price of less than $100.00 payment is required in full at time of order. Your remaining balance must be paid 7 days before your booked date as final confirmation of your cake order .

What is your cancellation policy?

Any orders that are cancelled 14 days prior to your event date will be refunded. (This does not include your $100.00 non refundable deposit)  For orders that are not cancelled within the 14 day grace period, your money will not be refunded for any reason or circumstance, and you will be responsible for payment in full for your order to Cakes by Erin within two weeks of your original scheduled event date.

What if I have to reschedule my cake order?

Any cake order that is rescheduled within 7 days prior to your  event date will have a 50% fee applied to reschedule.  This means that you will be required to pay 50% of your quoted price of your cake at the time of your reschedule.
Our reason for this is that we make certain pieces at the beginning of the week including figures and flowers and order product  ahead of time so we can make your cake that week.   We also book up for each weekend and it is often hard to move an order and accommodate it.

What is your delivery policy?

Delivery is offered Monday - Saturday, for a fee of $2.00 per mile round trip from our bakery at 800 Broadway  in Haverhill, MA.  Sunday and Holiday deliveries, as those are days we are closed, it is $4.00 per mile round trip. We deliver to MA, NH, ME, and RI. Delivery is only offered for orders over $200.00 and also if we have availability on the date requested.  There is a minimum $20.00 delivery fee for local/Haverhill deliveries as well.

Are you a nut free bakery?

We do not use any products in our baked goods that are processed in plants with tree nuts or peanuts.  We do not use peanuts or tree nuts in any of our baked goods.  However, we DO use coconut, which is a fruit and the FDA does consider it a "tree nut".  Coconut is listed as a separate allergy on any packaging, product or as an ingredient.  We advise you not to consume our baked goods if you do have a coconut allergy.   We also do not allow any of our employees or customers to bring any peanuts or tree nuts into our bakery to ensure that there is no cross contamination.

Do you offer cake tastings and consults?

We do offer cake tastings and consults for Wedding cakes. Cake tastings have a fee of $25.00 which must be paid when booked.  This fee is applied to your cake when you order it with us.  It is a non-refundable fee should you cancel.  You may have your choice of 3 cake, frosting, and filling flavors which should compliment each other as they will be baked as a cupcake for your tasting. If you need suggestions for your tasting, we can provide them for you. If you would like to try additional flavors after your top 3 are chosen, you may purchase any of our cupcakes that are available for sale in our bakery that day.
